Mukul Sarkar, Director

Mr. Mukul Sarkar had completed his education in hotel management from Institute of Hotel Management (Govt-Aided), Taratala, Kolkata, WB, India in 1982. Since then, he has worked in the hospitality and tourism industry across multiple cities in India for over 10 years. In 1992, he moved to academia, and started teaching in Institute of Advanced Hotel Management (IAM) (Kolkata, India) and went on to become the head of the department of food production and nutrition and played an instrumental role in building their campuses in Goa, India as well. Furthermore, he held the position of Principal in Scott Hotel Management Institute in Kolkata, WB, India in the early 2000s. Amidst, his academic endeavors, he also ran his own food catering company named ‘Master Chef’ in WB from 1994-2008, before moving out from Kolkata, India to join Kohinoor Institute of Hotel Management (KIMI) in Khandala, Maharashtra, India. In addition to these endeavors, he was a pioneer in starting an international gifts services website (www.globalbengal.com) for people residing abroad and enabled them to send gifts to their loved ones back home in West Bengal, India spanning over two decades (1996-2015). Moreover, he joined as an executive chef and professor of food production and nutrition at KIMI, Khandala, Maharashtra, India in 2008. During his teaching years in KIMI, he also completed his Master’s degree and participated in Queen Margaret University Faculty Exchange Programme in UK. He also successfully started an off-campus study centre of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India in Kolkata, West Bengal, India with his partners in the early 2000s to help working professionals based in West Bengal, India to complete their education through distance-learning.
